The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755748 is a VBMT332-UM 1125 solid carbide turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V) with a neutral hand orientation and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, making it well-suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The 1125 grade substrate carries a PVD-applied TiAlN and AlCr2O3 dual-layer coating that resists heat and wear during high-speed steel cutting. The UM chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation across a broad range of feeds and depths of cut. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for turning steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The CoroTurn 107 series is engineered for external turning, profiling, and light facing applications in both roughing and finishing contexts. The screw-clamp holding method and M-tolerance, B-clearance geometry (ISO code VBMT 16 04 08-UM 1125) make this insert a direct fit for compatible CoroTurn 107 toolholders. It ships individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units, consistent with standard insert procurement in production shops.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamp toolholders that accept VBMT-style inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P); secondary materials include stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes M, N, P, S).
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key for the clamping screw and ensure the insert seats fully and cleanly in the pocket before torquing. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
