Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755734 is a solid carbide turning insert with a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 PVD coating, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the VBMT332-MF designation, indicating a 35-degree diamond shape, a screw-on holding method, and an MF chip breaker geometry suited for medium-finish and light roughing cuts. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches with a 1/32-inch corner radius, and overall insert length is 0.6223 inches. Grade 1125 provides wear resistance combined with toughness for challenging workpiece materials. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.

This insert is intended for turning steel as its primary workpiece material and is also rated for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as secondary workpiece materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, and S. The MF chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-to-light feeds and depths, making it well suited for finishing passes and semi-finish operations where surface quality and chip control are priorities. It fits standard VBMT-style toolholders used in external turning, profiling, and copy-turning applications on both manual and CNC turning equipment.

Key Features

  • TiAlN and AlCr2O3 PVD dual-coating for elevated heat resistance and flank wear protection
  • MF chip breaker geometry promotes reliable chip breaking on medium-finish steel cuts
  • 35-degree diamond insert shape allows profiling and contour turning with low cutting forces
  • Screw-on holding method provides positive clamping and precise, repeatable indexing
  • 2 cutting edges per insert to maximize tool economy
  • Rated for steel, stainless steel, superalloy, and titanium workpiece materials

Compatibility

Designed for use in VBMT-style screw-on toolholders compatible with the Sandvik Coromant CoroTurn 107 series. ISO designation VBMT 16 04 08-MF 1125 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder bores and insert seats.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is stopped and all power is off before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert seat and shim for debris or damage before seating a new insert to ensure accurate positioning and prevent premature failure.
