The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755687 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the VBMT style, designed for precision single-point turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Part of the CoroTurn 107 series, this insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V) with a neutral hand orientation and a KF chip breaker geometry. With an inscribed circle of 0.375 inches and a corner radius of 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch), it is engineered for finishing and semi-finishing cuts where tight tolerances and controlled chip formation are required. It is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians working in production and job shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning cast iron and non-ferrous metals, corresponding to ISO workpiece material codes K and N. The KF chip breaker geometry is optimized for light to moderate depth-of-cut applications where chip control and surface finish are priorities. The H13A uncoated carbide grade is selected for applications where coating would negatively affect edge sharpness or where coolant and cutting conditions favor uncoated substrate performance. It is held in the tool body via a screw-clamp method and is compatible with VBMT-style toolholders.
Designed for use in VBMT-style screw-clamp toolholders compatible with the CoroTurn 107 series. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron (ISO code K) and non-ferrous metals (ISO code N). Verify toolholder bore and clamp geometry against the VBMT 331 insert seating requirements before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to tighten the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque — do not over-tighten, as this can crack the insert. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout control.
