The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755632 is a VBMT-style indexable turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured from solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN coating, it delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and light interrupted cuts. The 35-degree diamond insert shape provides a sharp, low-cutting-force geometry suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes. With a neutral hand orientation and a PM chip breaker, this insert manages chip evacuation effectively across a range of depths of cut and feed rates. It measures 0.638 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius.
This insert is intended for use on steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for stainless steel and cast iron. The PM chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-depth finishing cuts on these materials in production turning environments. Typical installations include external diameter turning, facing, and light profiling operations in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance machining settings. The screw-holding method (Hole Diameter: 0.1732 inches) suits standard toolholders designed for VBMT insert styles. It carries ISO code VBMT 16 04 04-PM 1525.
Designed for use with VBMT-style screw-on toolholders in the CoroTurn 107 series. Compatible with toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle VBMT insert with a 0.1732-inch hole diameter. ISO designation VBMT 16 04 04-PM 1525 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder systems.
Indexable turning inserts are installed and replaced by machinist or CNC toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not overtighten, as this can crack the insert or damage the seat. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for debris or wear before seating a new insert.
