The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755525 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBMT 11 03 02-MF 1125 geometry, part of the CoroTurn 107 series. It features a dual-layer PVD coating of TiAlN and AlCr2O3, delivering high heat resistance and wear protection in demanding cutting applications. The insert carries a diamond (V) shape with a 35-degree included angle, a 5-degree relief angle, and a 0.20 mm (0.0079 inch) corner radius. Inscribed circle diameter is 0.2500 inches (6.35 mm). Insert length is 0.428 inches (10.87 mm) and thickness is 0.125 inches (3.17 mm). This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators in turning operations on lathes and turning centers.
The MF chip breaker geometry on this insert is optimized for finishing passes on steel and is well suited to secondary workpiece materials including stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with a wide range of right-hand and left-hand toolholders that accept VBMT-style inserts. CoroTurn 107 tooling is commonly used in both external and internal turning applications in production shop environments, including automotive, aerospace, and general machining. Two cutting edges per insert contribute to operational cost efficiency in high-volume turning.
Designed for use with VBMT-style toolholders that accept a screw-lock (hole-type) insert with a 2.80 mm (0.1102 inch) hole diameter. Compatible with CoroTurn 107 series toolholders. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P); secondary materials include stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes M, P, S).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to torque the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure accurate tool nose position.
