The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755497 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBMT geometry, part of the CoroTurn 107 series. It carries a CVD-applied TiCN and TiN coating over a carbide substrate, grade 235. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape with a 0.2 mm corner radius, a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, and an overall length of 0.428 inches. It is neutral-handed and designed for external turning operations. The UF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Two cutting edges are available per insert.
This insert is suited for finish turning applications on steel and stainless steel in both CNC lathe and manual turning setups. The UF chip breaker is engineered for light depths of cut and low feed rates typical of finishing passes, making it appropriate for tight-tolerance components in job shop, automotive, aerospace, and general machining environments. The CoroTurn 107 series uses a screw-clamp holding method compatible with VBMT-style insert pockets. Primary workpiece material code is P (steel); secondary is M (stainless steel).
Designed for use in VBMT-style insert pockets within the CoroTurn 107 toolholder system. ISO code VBMT 11 02 02-UF 235. Compatible with toolholders accepting a VBMT insert with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, 3/32-inch insert thickness, and screw-clamp holding method.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to torque the clamp screw to the toolholder specification — refer to the toolholder documentation for the required value, as it is not specified here. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert, and confirm the insert is fully seated and the screw is secure before resuming cuts.
