The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755482 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external and internal turning operations. Manufactured to VBMT geometry with a 35-degree diamond shape, this uncoated insert carries the H13A grade designation, making it suitable for finishing and light roughing on steel and stainless steel workpieces. The insert measures 0.428 inches in length with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and features a 0.20 mm corner radius for tight-tolerance finishing passes. It belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series and is held in place by a screw-clamp system. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert on compatible VBMT toolholders to achieve consistent surface finish on ISO P and M material groups.
This insert is intended for turning centers and CNC lathes running steel and stainless steel stock. The UF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts where controlled chip evacuation and low cutting forces are priorities. With two usable cutting edges per insert, it offers an economical cost-per-edge ratio for production environments. The neutral hand geometry allows use in both left- and right-hand tooling configurations. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and contour work on components requiring a clean surface finish and close dimensional tolerances.
Designed for use in VBMT-style screw-clamp toolholders compatible with the CoroTurn 107 series. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO P); secondary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO M). ISO insert designation is VBMT 11 02 02-UF H13A.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the appropriate Torx or hex key — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear before seating a new edge.
