The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755416 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the ISO designation TR-VB1304-F 1105, this insert features a 60-degree diamond shape with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, providing wear resistance and thermal stability during high-speed cuts. The neutral hand orientation suits a wide range of tool holders. With a 0.4961-inch insert length and a 0.0156-inch corner radius, this grade 1105 carbide insert is engineered for consistent performance on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments rely on this insert series for reliable chip control and dimensional accuracy.
This insert is intended for turning applications where steel and stainless steel are the primary workpiece materials. It belongs to the CoroTurn TR series, a platform designed for screw-clamp insert holding systems commonly found on both rigid and moderately flexible turning setups. The F chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation at moderate feeds and depths of cut, making it suitable for finishing and semi-finishing passes on turned components in aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing environments.
Designed for use in CoroTurn TR series screw-clamp turning tool holders that accept TRVB 1304-style inserts with a 0.1339-inch hole diameter. Primary workpiece material rating is Steel (ISO code P); secondary rating is Stainless Steel (ISO code M).
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Before indexing or replacing the insert, ensure the machine spindle is stopped and all motion is locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the tool holder manufacturer specification - do not overtighten, as this can crack the insert body. Confirm the insert is fully seated in the pocket and the locating surfaces are clean and free of chips before resuming cuts.
