The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755184 is a solid carbide turning insert from the CoroTurn TR series, designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. The insert features a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 PVD coating applied over a carbide substrate, delivering heat resistance and wear performance at elevated cutting speeds. It carries an ISO grade designation of 1125 and an ISO code of TRDC1312M1125. With a diamond insert shape, a 13 mm inscribed circle, and an M chip breaker geometry, this insert is suited for medium machining passes where controlled chip formation is required. Installation is by screw clamping. The insert is neutral-hand, compatible with both left- and right-hand toolholders of the appropriate style.
This insert is intended for turning steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P and M. The M chip breaker makes it appropriate for medium-depth passes and general-purpose profiling where chip control is a priority. It fits into CoroTurn TR toolholders designed for TRDC-style inserts. Machinists working on ferrous alloys, austenitic stainless grades, or duplex stainless materials will find the coating stack and edge geometry appropriate for those applications. Each package contains one insert, with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in CoroTurn TR series toolholders accepting TRDC-style inserts with a 13 mm inscribed circle. Primary workpiece material compatibility is steel (ISO P) and secondary compatibility is stainless steel (ISO M), as specified by the manufacturer.
This insert is installed and replaced by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure without applying excessive torque. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert, and confirm the insert is fully seated before resuming cutting operations.
