The SANDVIK COROMANT 5755001 is a cermet uncoated turning insert in the T-Max S series, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and conventional lathes. The insert carries the ISO code TPMR160308535015 and is manufactured to grade 5015 cermet — a material that delivers excellent wear resistance and surface finish performance at moderate to high cutting speeds. With a 60-degree triangular shape, 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0315-inch (1/32-inch) corner radius, this insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. Relief angle is 11 degrees, clearance code P, tolerance code M. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is optimized for primary use on steel workpieces (ISO material code P) and is also rated for cast iron applications (ISO material code K). The T-Max S series is commonly used in medium-to-light turning applications where tight tolerances and consistent surface finish are required. The TPMR insert style with a neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for a range of tool holders designed around the TPMR seating geometry. Maximum depth of cut is 0.6181 inches (15.70 mm). The chip breaker designation is 53, and the insert is held in place by a clamp-style holding method.
Designed for use in TPMR-style clamp-type tool holders. Compatible with workpieces in steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) materials. ISO insert code TPMR160308535015. Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max S series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Ensure the insert seat and shim are clean and free of chips before seating the insert — debris under the insert will cause premature failure or chipping. Use the manufacturer-recommended torque driver for the clamp screw; do not over-tighten by hand or with standard hex keys. Inspect the seating surface and chip breaker orientation before resuming cuts.
