The SANDVIK COROMANT 5754904 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPMR322 geometry, part of the T-Max S series. It features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal protection during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert has a 60-degree triangular shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. With three cutting edges and manufacturer grade 2025, it is designed for productive turning of stainless steel and similar difficult-to-machine materials. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and similar trades do not install this part; it is used by machinists and CNC operators in metalworking environments.
This insert is suited for turning operations on stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material code M. The T-Max S series is a well-established SANDVIK COROMANT platform for external and internal turning on CNC lathes and turning centers. The TPMR geometry with an 11-degree relief angle and clamp-style holding method makes it appropriate for general-purpose finishing and semi-finishing passes. The chip breaker designation is 53, optimized for chip control on ductile, work-hardening materials such as austenitic stainless steel. The ISO designation for this insert is TPMR 16 03 08 2025.

Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Use appropriate insert seating tools to ensure the insert seats fully and evenly in the pocket before engaging the clamp. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or damage before installing a new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications for the clamp screw, as these values vary by toolholder model and are not specified here.
