The SANDVIK COROMANT 5754692 is a solid carbide turning insert in the T-Max P series, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes. Carrying the TNMX331-WF chip breaker geometry, this insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a neutral hand orientation and six usable cutting edges. It is coated with TiCN and TiN via a PVD process, delivering wear resistance and edge integrity across moderate to high cutting speeds. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (0.3750 inches), corner radius is 1/64 inches (0.0156 inches), and overall insert length is 0.6338 inches. Machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments install this insert in compatible SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P toolholders.
This insert is engineered primarily for machining steel (ISO material code P) and performs well on stainless steel (ISO material code M) as a secondary workpiece material. The WF chip breaker geometry is suited to finishing and light semi-finishing cuts where controlled chip evacuation and surface finish quality are priorities. It fits toolholders designed for the TNMX insert style with a clamp-and-pin holding method, making it a straightforward drop-in for existing T-Max P setups on production turning centers.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series toolholders accepting the TNMX insert style with clamp-and-pin holding. Confirm toolholder pocket specifications match the TNMX331 insert geometry before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench or screw driver specified for the toolholder clamping system — do not overtighten the clamp screw, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamp components for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
