The SANDVIK COROMANT 5754466 is a TNMG433-MM 2025 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a neutral hand orientation, providing six usable cutting edges per insert. With an inscribed circle of 0.5000 inches and a corner radius of 0.0469 inches (3/64 inches), this insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required.
This insert is engineered primarily for turning stainless steel (ISO material group M) and belongs to SANDVIK COROMANT's T-Max P series, which targets external and internal turning applications on medium to large lathes. The MM chip breaker geometry is designed to manage chip control in stainless steel and other tough-to-machine materials where built-up edge and work hardening are common challenges. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace, oil and gas, and general metalworking environments where consistent tool life and repeatable results are critical.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series toolholders that accept TNMG style inserts with a 0.2030-inch hole diameter and clamp or pin holding method. ISO code TNMG 22 04 12-MM 2025 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder pockets per standard ISO turning insert designation.
Insert installation should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before indexing or replacing cutting edges. Use the torque specification provided by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw to avoid insert cracking or poor seating. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, wear, or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination in the pocket can cause premature edge failure or dimensional deviation. Handling carbide inserts with bare hands is not recommended, as skin oils can affect coating performance at elevated temperatures.
