The SANDVIK COROMANT 5754394 is a triangular carbide turning insert in the T-Max P series, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the TNMG433-MR 2025 designation, this insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The MR chip breaker geometry is engineered for stable chip formation and controlled machining of stainless steel. With a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle and a 0.0469-inch corner radius, the insert fits standard TNMG-style toolholders and is suited for medium to finishing turning passes. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is rated primarily for stainless steel workpiece materials (ISO material code M), making it a practical choice for shops that regularly run austenitic and duplex stainless grades. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both right-hand and left-hand toolholder configurations. The T-Max P series is a broadly used platform in production turning environments, covering both light roughing and semi-finishing operations. The MR chip breaker supports consistent chip evacuation in interrupted and continuous cuts on difficult-to-machine alloys. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 10 per order.
Designed for use in TNMG-style toolholders within the Sandvik Coromant T-Max P turning system. ISO designation TNMG 22 04 12-MR 2025. Compatible with clamp and pin insert-holding toolholder bodies accepting a 0.2030-inch (5.16 mm) hole diameter insert with a 0.1875-inch insert thickness.
Insert replacement is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Before indexing or replacing an insert, power down the machine spindle and confirm the turret is locked and de-energized. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware to secure the insert — do not overtighten the clamping screw with improvised tools, as this can fracture the carbide body. Confirm insert seating and edge orientation before resuming the cutting program.
