The SANDVIK COROMANT 5754352 is a TNMG434MR 2035 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for high-performance metal cutting in CNC turning applications. Part of the T-Max P series, this insert carries a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating that delivers moderate wear resistance combined with high toughness — a balance well suited to interrupted cuts and demanding stainless steel work. The insert is 22 millimeters long with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a 1/16 inch corner radius. The triangular 60-degree geometry provides six usable cutting edges per insert, maximizing cost-per-edge efficiency for shop and field machinists.
This insert is engineered for roughing and medium machining operations on stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material group M. The MR chip breaker geometry controls chip formation across varying depths of cut up to 20.40 millimeters (0.8032 inches). The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard right-hand and left-hand toolholders using clamp or pin holding methods. It is appropriate for both production turning centers and manual lathes where secure insert clamping is available. Machinists working in aerospace, food processing, and chemical equipment fabrication — where austenitic and duplex stainless alloys are common — will find this insert a reliable go-to choice.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for TNMG434-style insert seats in T-Max P series toolholders accepting TNMG 22 04 16 ISO-coded inserts. ANSI insert code TNMG434 and ISO insert code TNMG220416 should be used to verify toolholder seat compatibility before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians on CNC or manual turning equipment. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware for the toolholder seat — do not over-tighten the clamp screw, as this can fracture the carbide body. Verify insert seating and confirm cutting edge index before resuming machining operations.
