The SANDVIK COROMANT 5754251 is a solid carbide turning insert in the T-Max P series, designed for general turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This insert uses grade 235 carbide with a CVD-applied TiCN plus TiN coating for wear resistance and thermal stability. It features a triangular 60-degree geometry (TNMG style) with a neutral hand orientation and an MR chip breaker. The inscribed circle measures 0.5000 inches (12.70 mm), insert length is 0.8661 inches (22.00 mm), and the corner radius is 0.0315 inches (0.80 mm). Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in production and job-shop turning applications.
This insert is suited for turning steel and stainless steel workpieces in both roughing and semi-finishing passes. The MR chip breaker geometry handles medium material removal rates on steel (ISO P) as the primary workpiece material and stainless steel (ISO M) as the secondary. Holding methods include clamp and pin systems. With 6 usable cutting edges per insert, this grade 235 triangular insert provides extended tool life across high-volume turning runs. It carries ISO code TNMG220408MR235 and is cataloged under SANDVIK COROMANT catalog number 5754251.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series toolholders accepting TNMG-style inserts with a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, clamp or pin holding, and N clearance geometry per ISO TNMG220408MR235 specification.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct torque driver or clamp key specified for the T-Max P toolholder to secure the insert without over-tightening the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before each index to prevent insert rocking and premature edge failure.
