The SANDVIK COROMANT 5754236 is a TNMG432-MM 2025 indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. The insert features a 60-degree triangle shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius. The substrate is solid carbide with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which is the manufacturer grade 2025 designation. This coating stack provides wear resistance and thermal stability suited for demanding turning operations. The insert measures 0.8345 inches in length with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and 3/16-inch thickness. It is installed by licensed machinists and toolroom technicians on indexable toolholders using clamp or pin holding methods.
This insert is engineered for turning stainless steel and similar ISO M-class workpiece materials. It belongs to the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series, which targets external and internal turning in production and job-shop environments. The MM chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium cutting conditions on stainless steel, helping to manage chip control and cutting forces in both roughing and semi-finishing passes. With 6 available cutting edges per insert, it offers extended tool life per unit. Machinists running stainless steel at moderate depths of cut and feed rates are the primary users of this insert.
Designed for use in TNMG-style indexable turning toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 60-degree triangle insert with clamp or pin holding. ISO code TNMG 22 04 08-MM 2025 identifies the exact insert geometry for toolholder matching. Verify toolholder pocket specifications before ordering.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamping screw, as this can fracture the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
