This solid carbide insert features a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied via PVD process, delivering strong wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of workpiece materials. The triangular insert geometry provides 6 cutting edges per insert, maximizing tool life per piece. With a 0.8345-inch insert length, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this insert suits moderate to finishing passes. The MM chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation in steel and multi-material turning applications.
This insert is suited for production turning on steel as its primary workpiece material. Secondary material compatibility includes stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, making it versatile across job shop and production environments. Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination causes premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for the clamping screw and do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for the selected chip breaker geometry.
