The SANDVIK COROMANT 5754149 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designated as TNMG431-QM H13A, this insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a neutral hand orientation and a bright uncoated finish in the H13A grade. It carries a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch (0.0156-inch) corner radius, offering six usable cutting edges per insert. The QM chip breaker geometry is engineered for productive chip control in medium turning applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a direct replacement in compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for turning steel as its primary workpiece material (ISO material code P) and stainless steel as a secondary application (ISO material code M). Typical use cases include medium-duty turning passes on production and job-shop lathes where an uncoated carbide grade performs well in controlled cutting conditions. The T-Max P series designation confirms compatibility with the corresponding Sandvik Coromant T-Max P toolholder system. The ISO designation for this insert is TNMG 22 04 04-QM H13A.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series toolholders accepting TNMG-style inserts with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle. The ISO code TNMG 22 04 04-QM H13A can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder specifications. Verify toolholder pocket dimensions before installation.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop, spindle locked, and all energy sources isolated per lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct torque wrench and insert seating tools specified by the toolholder manufacturer to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not attempt to regrind or re-coat this insert.
