The SANDVIK COROMANT 5753822 is a TNMG331-MF 2015 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a triangular insert shape with a 60-degree included angle and six usable cutting edges, providing extended tool life per insert. The CVD-applied multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN — delivers heat resistance and wear protection suited to demanding cuts. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and an insert length of 0.6338 inches, this insert is built for the tolerances machinists expect from T-Max P series tooling. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is engineered for turning stainless steel (ISO material code M) as its primary workpiece application, where built-up edge resistance and thermal stability are critical. The MF chip breaker geometry is designed for medium finishing passes, producing consistent chip control on austenitic and martensitic stainless alloys. It mounts via clamp and pin holding methods in compatible TNMG-style toolholders. The T-Max P series designation indicates compatibility with Sandvik Coromant T-Max P turning toolholder systems designed for TNMG geometry inserts. It is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in TNMG-style turning toolholders within the Sandvik Coromant T-Max P toolholder system. ISO insert code TNMG 16 04 04-MF 2015 can be used to verify direct toolholder compatibility. Clamp and pin holding is required.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Always index or replace inserts with the machine in an e-stop or powered-down state, and confirm the spindle is fully stopped before touching the toolholder pocket. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the pocket seat and shim for damage or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
