The SANDVIK COROMANT 5753568 is a carbide threading insert designed for precision thread cutting on both internal and external workpiece surfaces. Part of the Top Lok series, it carries a TiAlN finish applied via PVD coating process, which supports extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The insert covers a pitch range of 1.25 to 5.00 mm (5 to 20 TPI) and is ground to a 60-degree V thread standard with a right-hand cutting orientation. It is used by machinists and toolroom technicians on CNC lathes and manual turning equipment where consistent thread form and insert repeatability are required.
This insert is suited for threading operations in production machining environments, including job shops and manufacturing facilities running both small-batch and high-volume work. The 60-degree included angle makes it compatible with common Unified (UN) and metric thread profiles. Its design accommodates both internal thread cutting, such as tapped bores, and external thread turning on shafts or fastener stock. The TiAlN coating helps resist heat buildup at the cutting edge, making the insert practical for use in steels and other ferrous materials at elevated cutting speeds.
Designed as a Top Lok series threading insert compatible with toolholders and boring bars that accept the TLT3R insert style in size 3. Verify holder compatibility against the ISO code TLT-3R 1125 before installation.
Threading inserts of this type are installed and replaced by machinists following standard turning center lockout and toolchange procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool turret is in a safe index position before handling inserts. Use the appropriate Top Lok clamping hardware and torque the insert screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect seating surfaces and clamp pockets for chips or wear before seating a new insert.
