The SANDVIK COROMANT 5753150 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the Top Lok series standard, this right-hand insert carries a TiCrAlN and TiAlN PVD coating applied over a grade 1125 carbide substrate, providing wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. The insert features a 4.80 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 3.81 mm, and a neutral rake angle of 10 degrees. A corner radius of 0.57 mm helps control edge stress and surface finish. Machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in compatible Top Lok grooving toolholders for high-repeatability groove profiling on steel, stainless, and alloy workpieces.
This insert is suited for precision grooving applications in both production and job-shop environments. The TLG insert style and ISO code TLG-3189R 1125 place it in a family of Top Lok system inserts commonly used on CNC turning centers handling medium to fine grooving passes. The multi-use designation indicates compatibility with grooving, parting, and light turning operations within the specified depth range. Insert seat size 3 and an overall length of 0.6339 inches ensure consistent seating in matched Top Lok holders. Applications include OD grooving on shafts, snap-ring groove cutting, and finish-pass groove work where dimensional accuracy is critical.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT Top Lok series grooving toolholders that accept insert seat size 3 and the TLG insert style. ISO code TLG-3189R 1125 should be referenced when matching to a compatible holder. Consult the manufacturer toolholder selection guide to confirm correct clamping system fit before installation.
This insert is installed and replaced by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct Top Lok clamping key or wrench to seat the insert fully against the insert pocket walls without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination in the pocket will affect dimensional accuracy and can cause premature insert failure.
