The SANDVIK COROMANT 5753120 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Lok series, designed for precise external grooving and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a dual PVD coating of TiCrAlN and TiAlN, which supports elevated cutting speeds and extends tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. The insert is right-hand oriented with a neutral rake angle of 10 degrees, a cutting width of 0.094 inches (2.39 mm), and a maximum depth of cut of 0.11 inches (2.79 mm). Grade 1125 is the manufacturer designation for this substrate and coating combination.
This insert is suited for production turning environments where consistent groove geometry and surface finish are required. It is appropriate for use in both light and medium-duty grooving applications, with a maximum depth of cut range of 0.10 to 0.15 inches (2.00 to 3.00 mm). The Top Lok series toolholder system provides secure, repeatable insert seating, making this insert a practical choice for high-volume turning shops running steel, stainless, or cast materials. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians.
Designed for use with Top Lok series grooving toolholders accepting insert seat size 2. ISO code TLGP-2094R 1125 identifies the insert geometry and grade for holder matching. Verify toolholder compatibility using the manufacturer catalog number TLGP-2094R 1125 before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or clamp key specified for the Top Lok toolholder to secure the insert; do not exceed the clamping torque range specified in the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Discard worn inserts in accordance with facility carbide recycling or disposal procedures.
