The SANDVIK COROMANT 5753112 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Lok series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This left-hand insert carries a manufacturer grade of 1125 with a PVD-applied TiCrAlN and TiAlN dual-layer coating, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding turning applications. The cutting width is 1.57 mm (0.062 inches) with a maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm (0.110 inches). A neutral rake angle of 10 degrees and a corner radius of 0.19 mm help maintain predictable chip control and edge stability. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production turning, and tool-and-die environments are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for grooving operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where tight tolerances and consistent surface finish are required. The Top Lok series is used in both light-duty finishing and moderate stock-removal turning applications. The TLGP2 style insert seats into compatible Top Lok toolholders. The multi-use designation confirms this insert can handle a range of grooving scenarios within its depth-of-cut range of 2.00 mm to 3.00 mm (approximately 0.100 inches to 0.150 inches). It is a single-edge, left-hand configuration, so orientation during toolholder setup must be confirmed before mounting.
Designed for use with Top Lok series grooving toolholders that accept TLGP-2 style inserts. ISO code TLGP-2062L 1125 and manufacturers catalog number TLGP-2062L 1125 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder systems. Verify left-hand holder orientation before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the turret locked out before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate Top Lok insert key or torque wrench per the toolholder manufacturer's seating procedure. Confirm cutting edge orientation and insert seat cleanliness before clamping to avoid seating errors that can affect dimensional accuracy.
