The SANDVIK COROMANT 5752991 is a TCMT-style triangular turning insert in the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a solid carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN multilayer coating, grade 2035, optimized for cutting stainless steel and other ISO M-class workpiece materials. The insert measures 0.8345 inches in length with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. It is screw-held, neutral-hand, and carries a clearance code of C with tolerance code M. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades are not the target here - this part is installed by machining professionals and CNC operators.
This insert is suited for turning stainless steel and similar difficult-to-machine materials in production and job-shop environments. The MR chip breaker geometry is designed to manage chip control across a range of feed rates and depths of cut typical in medium finishing and semi-finishing passes. The CoroTurn 107 series is a common platform in CNC turning applications where screw-clamped triangular inserts are specified. With three cutting edges per insert, the 5752991 offers cost-effective edge utilization across repeated setups.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept TCMT 22 04 08 geometry inserts (ISO code TCMT 22 04 08-MR 2035). Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamping screw size before installation. Primary workpiece material classification is ISO M (stainless steel).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the clamping screw and seat the insert fully into the pocket before torquing - do not over-tighten the clamp screw. Inspect the insert seat and shim for debris or damage before each insert change to ensure accurate seating and repeatable tool geometry.
