Product Description

The SANDVIK COROMANT 5752802 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TCMT insert style with a 60-degree triangular shape, providing 3 usable cutting edges per insert. The 2025 manufacturer grade features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, a combination engineered for wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and light-interrupted cutting. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes where edge definition and surface finish matter. It belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series and is held in place via screw clamping.

This insert is optimized for machining stainless steel (ISO material code M), making it a go-to choice for shops working with austenitic or duplex alloys. The MF chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation at moderate feed rates, reducing built-up edge and heat generation in the cut. Typical applications include OD turning of shafts, flanges, and tubular components on both manual and CNC turning equipment. A licensed machinist or CNC operator installs this insert as a direct consumable replacement in a compatible TCMT-style toolholder.

Key Features

  • TCMT insert style with 60-degree triangle geometry and 3 cutting edges per insert
  • CVD multilayer coating: TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN for thermal and abrasion resistance
  • MF chip breaker geometry for controlled chip flow in stainless steel finishing cuts
  • 1/64-inch (0.0156-inch) corner radius for tight-tolerance finishing applications
  • Screw-clamping insert holding method with 0.1732-inch hole diameter
  • Neutral hand orientation for use in standard right-hand and left-hand toolholders as specified

Compatibility

Designed for use in TCMT-compatible screw-clamp toolholders within the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seat dimensions against the ISO code TCMT 16 T3 04-MF 2025 before installation.

Installation Notes

Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing any cutting insert. Use the correct torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure — do not overtighten the clamping screw, as this can crack the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
