The SANDVIK COROMANT 5752518 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for external turning and profiling operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured under the CoroTurn 107 series, this insert carries the ISO designation TCMT 11 03 04-MM 1105 and features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process for improved wear resistance and tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The triangular 60-degree insert geometry provides three usable cutting edges, and the MM chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation in steel and stainless steel applications. The insert measures 0.4071 inches in length with an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches and a corner radius of 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch).
This insert is intended for precision turning of steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and S. The neutral hand orientation and screw-holding method make it suitable for standard TCMT-style toolholders used in production turning environments. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish turning passes where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance machine shops are the primary installers of this insert type.
Designed for use in TCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders compatible with the CoroTurn 107 series. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P); secondary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes P, M, and S).
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop and all axes locked or in a safe maintenance state. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure when seating the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for debris or wear before installing a new insert. Dispose of worn carbide inserts in accordance with local regulations for metallic waste.
