The SANDVIK COROMANT 5752335 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TCGT221-UM 1125 designation, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a dual-layer TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating applied by PVD process, which provides thermal resistance and edge stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with three usable cutting edges, a 7-degree relief angle, and a 0.4071-inch cutting edge length. The UM chip breaker geometry is engineered for light to medium turning passes with controlled chip formation. Machinists and CNC operators working in precision turning applications will find this insert suited to high-accuracy finishing work.
This insert is part of the CoroTurn 107 series, which is designed for external and internal turning where positive cutting geometry is required. Primary workpiece material is steel, with secondary compatibility across stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to standard screw-held toolholders using a center-hole clamping method. It is appropriate for both production shop environments and tool room applications where tight tolerances are required.
Designed for use with the CoroTurn 107 toolholder series. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (primary), stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium per the manufacturer grade 1125 specification. ISO designation TCGT 11 03 04-UM 1125.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or toolroom technicians using the center-hole screw clamping method standard to CoroTurn 107 toolholders. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket seat for debris or damage before seating a new insert to avoid edge chipping or premature wear.
