The SANDVIK COROMANT 5752291 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying ISO designation TCGT 11 02 04-UM 1125, this insert features a 60-degree triangle geometry with a 1/64-inch (0.0156-inch) corner radius and a 1/4-inch inscribed circle. The 1125 grade substrate is coated with TiAlN and AlCr2O3 via a PVD coating process, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability at cutting depth. The UM chip breaker geometry is optimized for chip control across a range of depths of cut and feed rates. Installation is handled by a screw-clamping method.
This insert is part of the CoroTurn 107 series and is rated neutral hand, making it suitable for a variety of turning approaches without directional restriction. It is designed for use on steel as its primary workpiece material, and is also rated for stainless steel, non-ferrous metal, superalloy, and titanium applications. Typical users include CNC machinists and toolroom technicians running production or job-shop turning operations on ferrous and non-ferrous components. The three available cutting edges extend tool economy across a single insert life.
Designed for use with CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept TCGT-style inserts with a screw-clamping holding method and a 1/4-inch inscribed circle. Confirm toolholder bore and clamping screw compatibility before installing.
This insert is installed by a licensed machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate clamping screw and torx key for the CoroTurn 107 toolholder. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and verify there is no rocking before tightening the clamping screw. Index to a fresh cutting edge rather than rotating a worn edge back into the cut.
