The SANDVIK COROMANT 5752190 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ISO designation TCMT 09 02 04-MF 1125 and belongs to the CoroTurn 107 series. The insert features a dual-layer PVD coating of TiAlN and AlCr2O3, which provides heat resistance and wear protection during continuous and light interrupted cuts. The triangular insert shape provides three usable cutting edges per insert. With a 60-degree included angle and a 0.0156-inch corner radius, it is suited for medium to light finishing passes. The MF chip breaker geometry promotes reliable chip control across a range of feed rates and depths of cut.
This insert is intended primarily for turning steel workpieces and is also rated for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in secondary applications. It is used in external turning and profiling operations where a screw-held, triangular insert with neutral hand orientation is required. The CoroTurn 107 series is a standard toolholder platform widely used in production turning shops handling a mix of steel and difficult-to-machine alloys. Licensed machinists and CNC turning technicians are the typical end users installing and indexing these inserts.
Designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept TCMT-style triangular inserts with screw-on holding. ISO code TCMT 09 02 04-MF 1125 identifies the seat and geometry requirements. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P); secondary rated materials include stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes M, P, and S).
Indexing and insert replacement should be performed with the machine in a full stop and all spindle motion confirmed ceased. Use the correct Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert. Proper insert seating is critical to maintaining dimensional accuracy; confirm secure clamping before resuming cuts.
