The SANDVIK COROMANT 5752144 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TCGT style, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the manufacturer grade 1105 with a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) TiAlN coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability suited for finishing and semi-finishing cuts. The triangular insert shape provides three usable cutting edges per insert, offering a cost-effective edge count for production environments. At 0.618 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this insert fits standard screw-clamped toolholders in the CoroTurn 107 series. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities are the primary users.
This insert is engineered primarily for cutting steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It performs in applications requiring controlled chip formation, aided by the UM chip breaker geometry. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both right- and left-hand toolholder configurations. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and contour finishing where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are priorities.
Designed for use with SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamped toolholders accepting TCGT-style inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle. ISO designation for this insert is TCGT 16 T3 08-UM 1105.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and all axes at rest. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder specification provided by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excessive clamping force. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Verify insert orientation and hand before resuming cutting operations.
