The SANDVIK COROMANT 5752102 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations. Carrying the TCGT2203-UM 1125 designation, this insert features a 60-degree triangle shape with a neutral hand orientation and a 0.1 mm (0.0039 inch) corner radius. The 1125 grade substrate is PVD-coated with TiAlN and AlCr2O3 layers, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability across a wide range of cutting applications. The inscribed circle measures 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch), and the insert length is 0.4189 inches. It is installed by CNC machinists and turning center operators in production and job-shop environments. The UM chip breaker geometry is engineered to promote controlled chip formation during finishing passes.
This insert is suited for turning steel as its primary workpiece material, and is also applicable across stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. ISO material codes P, M, N, and S are all covered. The CoroTurn 107 series designation indicates compatibility with screw-clamped toolholders designed for that system. Typical applications include light finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances and consistent surface finish are required. The TCGT insert style with a clearance code of C and tolerance code of G supports close-tolerance work on lathes and turning centers.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series screw-clamped toolholders that accept TCGT-style inserts with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle. Compatible workpiece materials include steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), non-ferrous metals (ISO N), superalloys (ISO S), and titanium.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician. Ensure the machine is fully stopped and the spindle is locked before seating or replacing the insert. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench for the clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate or stripping the screw seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh insert.
