The SANDVIK COROMANT 5751897 is a triangular solid carbide turning insert from the CoroTurn 107 series, designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes. The insert carries a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 PVD coating applied through a physical vapor deposition process, which supports high wear resistance across demanding cutting conditions. The ANSI insert code is TCMT1.81.51 and the ISO code is TCMT 09 02 04-MM 1125. With a neutral hand orientation, a 0.40 mm corner radius, and a 60-degree included angle, it delivers controlled chip formation during roughing and medium machining passes. Screw-style clamping holds the insert securely in compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for turning stainless steel, carbon steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces where moderate to high wear resistance is required alongside adequate toughness. Grade 1125 is formulated for ISO material groups M and S, making it a practical choice for aerospace components, pressure vessel fittings, and precision turned parts in industrial manufacturing. The MM chip breaker geometry targets roughing and medium machining operations, helping manage chip evacuation at higher feed rates. Machinists working with difficult-to-cut materials will find the TiAlN and AlCr2O3 coating stack effective for extending tool life in interrupted or continuous cuts.
This insert is designed for use in CoroTurn 107 series toolholders that accept TCMT-style inserts with ANSI size code 1.81.51 and ISO size code 090204. It is rated for primary workpiece materials in ISO groups M and S, including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and susceptible to edge chipping from excess clamping load. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw condition before each insert change to ensure consistent seating.
