The SANDVIK COROMANT 5751716 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a TCGT insert style with a 60-degree triangular shape, providing three usable cutting edges per insert. The grade is 1125, featuring a TiAlN and AlCr2O3 PVD coating that supports high cutting speeds and extended tool life on steel and non-ferrous workpieces. The left-hand cutting orientation and 0.20 mm corner radius make it well suited for finishing and light semi-finishing passes where close tolerances and fine surface finish are required. Machinists and tool crib technicians working in production turning environments select this insert for its dimensional consistency and coating durability.
This insert fits into the CoroTurn 107 series toolholding system, which is commonly used in both manual and CNC turning applications. Primary applications include finishing cuts on steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. The screw-clamping insert holding method provides rigid, repeatable seating in compatible ISO indexable toolholders. It is appropriate for light-duty to medium-duty turning on components where surface quality and dimensional accuracy are the primary goals. Job shops, production machining facilities, and aerospace or medical parts manufacturers running a variety of workpiece materials will find this insert compatible with a broad range of turning programs.
Designed for use in SANDVIK COROMANT CoroTurn 107 series indexable turning toolholders that accept TCGT style inserts with screw clamping. ISO code TCGT 06 T1 02L-K 1125 identifies the exact insert specification for toolholder matching.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the toolholder manufacturer's indexing and clamping procedure. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer for the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
