The SANDVIK COROMANT 5750270 is a square turning insert designed for metal-cutting lathe operations in professional machining environments. Carrying the ISO designation SNMG 12 04 08-KM 3205, this insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN applied over a solid carbide substrate. The KM chip breaker geometry and grade 3205 carbide body make it well suited for turning cast iron workpieces. The insert has a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. It offers 8 usable cutting edges per insert, giving technicians a cost-effective service life per unit. The insert mounts via clamp and pin holding methods and fits standard SNMG toolholders.
This insert is intended for use in production turning applications where cast iron is the primary workpiece material. The T-Max P series is built for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and conventional turning centers in both job-shop and production environments. The KM chip breaker geometry manages chip control in medium-duty cast iron turning passes. A licensed machinist or CNC operator is the typical end user. Each package contains one insert; the minimum order quantity is 10 units.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for SNMG 432 toolholders using clamp and pin holding systems within the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series platform. Compatible with toolholders accepting the SNMG insert style with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and N clearance code.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for debris or damage before seating each new edge. Never use a damaged or chipped insert edge, as it can cause workpiece damage or toolholder failure.
