The SANDVIK COROMANT 5748167 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built to Series R840 standards and conforming to DIN 6535HA, this drill features a 5.80 mm diameter, a self-centering 140-degree point angle, and a TiAlN coating for extended tool life under elevated cutting temperatures. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the rigidity and edge retention required when drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tool-setting technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This drill is suited for general-purpose and precision hole-making in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces across ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports drilling to a maximum depth of 19.00 mm (1.1024 inches) in a single pass without coolant-through capability. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 6.00 mm shank diameter seats directly into standard ER collets, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders used on machining centers, drill presses, and CNC turning centers with live tooling.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for any application requiring a DIN 6535HA straight-cylindrical shank drill at 5.80 mm diameter. Compatible with standard ER collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, shrink-fit holders, and Weldon-flat-free tooling systems that accept a 6.00 mm shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys and titanium (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S).
This drill is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Before changing tooling, confirm the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank to the full gripping depth in the holder and torque the collet nut or chuck according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Do not exceed the rated maximum drilling depth of 19.00 mm without re-evaluating chip evacuation, as this bit does not include coolant-through capability.
