The SANDVIK COROMANT 5747761 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built on the R840 series platform, it features a self-centering 140-degree point, a TiAlN coating for thermal resistance, and coolant-through capability for deep-hole applications. The drill measures 9/32 inch (0.2811 decimal inch) in diameter with an overall length of 3.5827 inches and a flute length of 2.0866 inches, giving a 7xD depth-to-diameter ratio. It runs in the right-hand cutting direction with a regular spiral flute geometry and a straight-cylindrical shank. Licensed machinists, tool-room technicians, and CNC operators are the primary users.
This drill is suited for production drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It carries ISO material group codes P, M, K, N, and S, making it applicable across a broad range of workpiece materials encountered in aerospace, automotive, and general machining environments. The 8.00 mm shank diameter and DIN 6535HA shank specification make it compatible with standard precision collets and hydraulic chucks used on CNC machining centers and drill presses.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines equipped with DIN 6535HA-compatible collet chucks or hydraulic holders accepting an 8.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium per ISO material group codes P, M, K, N, and S.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tool-room personnel. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or chuck and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts, as excessive runout accelerates carbide drill wear and can cause premature breakage.
