The SANDVIK COROMANT 5747428 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Part of the R840 series, it features a 140-degree self-centering point, a TiAlN coating for elevated heat resistance, and coolant-through capability to support deep-hole applications. The 1/4-inch (7.00 mm) cutting diameter and straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems. With a 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio and micrograin carbide construction, this drill is designed for production environments where tool life and hole quality are critical priorities. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical contractors as well as machining professionals rely on carbide drills of this class for consistent, repeatable results.
This drill is suited for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium — covering ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and S. The coolant-through design makes it well matched to CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with through-spindle or through-tool coolant delivery. It conforms to DIN 6535HA shank geometry, fitting standard DIN-spec collets and tool holders used in production and job-shop settings. Two spiral flutes with a regular helix promote efficient chip evacuation across these material groups.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S). Conforms to DIN 6535HA shank specification. Part of the SANDVIK COROMANT R840 series.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with CNC or manual drilling equipment. Ensure the spindle and machine are powered down and locked out before mounting or removing the drill. Confirm the collet or chuck is rated for the shank diameter and that through-coolant pressure is set to the machine manufacturer's recommended range. Do not exceed the drill's rated maximum drilling depth per pass without appropriate chip-clearing cycles.
