The SANDVIK COROMANT 5747164 is a solid carbide jobber-length twist drill from the R840 series, designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. It measures 6.00 mm (0.2362 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 82.00 mm (3.2283 inches). The 140-degree self-centering point geometry reduces walking and thrust force at entry. A TiAlN coating provides thermal and wear resistance during high-speed cutting. Two spiral flutes with a regular helix evacuate chips efficiently through a maximum drilling depth of 31.00 mm (1.2205 inches). Coolant-through capability supports extended tool life in deep-hole applications. This drill is suited for use by machinist and toolroom trades in CNC and conventional drilling operations.
The 5747164 is built for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium — ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. The straight-cylindrical shank (6.00 mm diameter, 36.00 mm shank length) seats in standard collet chucks, drill chucks, and hydraulic toolholders without modification. The 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio makes it appropriate for moderate-depth holes in both batch production and job-shop environments. This drill conforms to DIN 6535HA specification, making it a direct fit in tooling systems dimensioned to that standard.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses with toolholding systems compatible with a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank per DIN 6535HA. Suitable for workpiece materials in ISO groups P, M, K, N, and S including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine spindle at a full stop and all energy sources locked out per facility LOTO procedures. Ensure the shank seating surface and toolholder bore are clean and free of chips before clamping. Do not exceed the recommended clamping torque for the toolholder type in use — consult the toolholder manufacturer's documentation. When using coolant-through capability, verify that coolant pressure and flow rate are within the machine spindle's rated limits before running the program.
