The SANDVIK COROMANT 5747155 is a solid carbide, uncoated milling insert designed for use in R790-series face and shoulder milling cutters. Carrying the H13A grade designation, this insert is engineered for machining non-ferrous metals where a sharp, bright cutting edge delivers clean chip formation and tight dimensional control. The parallelogram insert body measures 16 mm in length, 11 mm in width, and 4 mm in thickness, with a 0.50 mm corner radius and a positive rake geometry. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the right-hand configuration suits standard R790 cutter bodies. ANSI and ISO codes are R790-160405PH-NL H13A.
This insert is suited for production and job-shop milling operations targeting non-ferrous workpiece materials including aluminum alloys, copper alloys, and similar N-category materials. The NL chip breaker geometry and uncoated carbide substrate keep cutting forces low and surface finish consistent at elevated speeds. It fits R790-series cutter bodies and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and ramping passes on CNC machining centers in both job-shop and production environments.
Designed for use with R790-series milling cutter bodies. ANSI and ISO insert designation R790-160405PH-NL H13A. Insert size code 160405. Confirm cutter body pocket specifications before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the cutter body is secured or removed from the spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to the cutter manufacturer's specified torque procedure for screw-held inserts. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination in the pocket will affect runout and tool life.
