The SANDVIK COROMANT 5746892 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metal-cutting applications. Built to DIN 6535HA standards, it carries a TiAlN coating that extends tool life under elevated cutting temperatures. The drill cuts a 0.2500 inch (6.35 mm) diameter hole with a 140-degree self-centering point that reduces walking and improves entry accuracy. With a 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio and through-coolant capability, it is suited for CNC machining centers and production drilling operations where cycle time and hole quality are both priorities. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production cells are the primary users.
This drill is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium — covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. The 2-flute spiral configuration with a regular spiral type provides efficient chip evacuation across these material families. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 0.3150 inches (8.00 mm) in diameter, accommodating standard ER or hydraulic toolholders common in CNC setups. The overall length of 3.5827 inches (91.00 mm) and flute length of 2.0866 inches (53.00 mm) suit typical through-hole and blind-hole work within the 7xD depth range.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers accepting a 0.3150 inch (8.00 mm) straight-cylindrical shank per DIN 6535HA, including ER collet chucks and hydraulic toolholders. Rated for ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S as specified in the product attributes.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is placed in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the toolholder and verify runout with a dial indicator before running production cuts. Through-coolant supply lines should be confirmed open and at the correct pressure for the machine before initiating the drilling cycle.
