The SANDVIK COROMANT 5745943 is a solid carbide indexable milling insert engineered for use in R390 series face and shoulder milling cutters. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standard R390-18 06 12M-MM 2030, this right-hand, single-sided insert features a parallelogram shape with a positive 5-degree rake angle and a corner-rounded cutting edge style. The PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during demanding milling operations. With an inscribed circle of 11.00 mm, a thickness of 6.33 mm, and a corner radius of 1.20 mm, this insert is sized for the R390-18 toolholder platform. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium across a range of industrial and precision machining applications. The MM chip breaker geometry supports consistent chip control in both roughing and finishing passes. Maximum depth of cut reaches 16.00 mm, making this insert suitable for shoulder milling and face milling operations on machining centers and mills where tight tolerances and surface finish are required. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production facilities, and aerospace or energy sector environments where difficult-to-machine materials are common.
Designed for use with M-40 and R390 series milling cutter bodies. Insert size code 180612 corresponds to ANSI and ISO designation R390-18 06 12M-MM 2030. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and screw type before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to drive the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure without over-torquing. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or contamination before installing a new insert to ensure proper edge height and runout.
