The SANDVIK COROMANT 5745683 is a solid carbide milling insert engineered for high-performance face and shoulder milling operations. Carrying ANSI and ISO designation R390-11 T3 08M-PM 530, this right-hand, single-sided insert features a parallelogram shape with a 90-degree included angle and a positive rake geometry. The PM chip breaker promotes controlled chip flow across a range of metal-removal applications. The bright, uncoated cermet substrate in grade 530 delivers consistent edge integrity on demanding workpiece materials. Insert dimensions are 11.00 mm wide and 3.97 mm thick, with a 0.80 mm corner radius and a maximum depth of cut of 10.00 mm. Installation is by screw-holding method.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, and hard materials in both roughing and finishing contexts. It fits toolholders and cutter bodies in the R390 and M-32 series, making it applicable to a broad range of CNC machining centers used in general metalworking, aerospace component work, and precision part production. The positive rake and rounded cutting edge style reduce cutting forces, which helps maintain dimensional accuracy on thin-walled or complex workpieces. Each insert provides two cutting edges, offering a cost-effective edge life per insert.
Compatible with R390 and M-32 series cutter bodies as specified by the manufacturer. ANSI and ISO code R390-11 T3 08M-PM 530 governs toolholder fitment. Verify cutter pocket geometry and screw-hole sizing against the host body specification before installation.
Milling inserts in the R390 series are installed and replaced by qualified machinists or tooling technicians following machine lockout and spindle-stop procedures. Ensure all power is isolated and the spindle is fully at rest before handling the insert or clamping screw. Use the manufacturer-recommended torx or hex key torqued to the toolholder specification; do not overtighten the clamping screw, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the cutter pocket seat and screw threads for debris or damage before seating a new insert.
