The SANDVIK COROMANT 5745646 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the 2030 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN dual coating. Conforming to ANSI and ISO designations R390-11 T3 08M-MM 2030, this insert features a parallelogram shape with a positive 25-degree rake angle and a corner-rounded cutting edge style. The insert measures 3.59 mm thick with an inscribed circle diameter of 6.80 mm and a 0.80 mm corner radius. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the maximum depth of cut reaches 10.00 mm. It is screw-held and intended for right-hand cutting. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this insert in shoulder milling applications where controlled chip evacuation and edge toughness are priorities.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to material grades P30, M25, and S20. It fits into the R390 cutter series and is also compatible with M-32 series toolholders. The MM chip breaker geometry supports stable cutting in both roughing and semi-finishing passes on difficult-to-machine alloys. Typical applications include shoulder milling and face milling in aerospace, energy, and general machining environments where workpiece materials demand a tough, wear-resistant PVD coating for consistent tool life.
Designed for use with R390 and M-32 series milling cutters. ANSI and ISO catalog designation is R390-11 T3 08M-MM 2030. Insert size code is 11T308.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque screwdriver for the insert screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate — refer to the toolholder manufacturer documentation for the specified torque value. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
