The SANDVIK COROMANT 5745597 is a solid carbide, uncoated milling insert designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling applications. Carrying the H13A grade designation, this insert features a parallelogram shape with a positive 22-degree rake angle and a corner-rounded cutting edge style. It is sized to ANSI/ISO code R390-17 04 08E-KL H13A, with an inscribed circle of 0.3780 inches (9.60 mm) and a thickness of 0.1875 inches (4.76 mm). Two cutting edges per insert and a KL chip breaker geometry make it well suited for productive material removal in demanding machining environments. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists install this insert in CNC milling centers and machining cells.
This insert is intended for use in R390 series cutter bodies and targets three primary workpiece material categories: cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), and superalloys and titanium (S). It is a right-hand insert held in place by a screw-clamp method. The maximum depth of cut reaches 15.70 mm (0.6181 inches), making it suitable for medium to heavy shoulder milling passes on cast components, aluminum alloys, and high-temperature alloy parts in both production shop and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with Sandvik Coromant R390 series cutter bodies. ANSI and ISO code R390-17 04 08E-KL H13A confirms direct fitment within that cutter series. Suitable for machining cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Disengage the spindle and confirm zero energy state on the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key specified for the R390 pocket screw to seat the insert fully and evenly — do not overtighten by feel alone; follow the cutter body manufacturer seating procedure. Inspect the pocket seat and screw threads for wear or debris before installing a fresh insert to ensure proper support and runout control.
