The SANDVIK COROMANT 5745469 is an indexable square-shoulder end mill from the CoroMill 390 series, designed for high-precision shoulder milling operations in metalworking environments. The tool features a 0.9844-inch (25 mm) cutting diameter and accepts up to four screw-clamped R390-11 series inserts, delivering a 90-degree lead angle suited for true square-shoulder cuts. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.3937 inches (10 mm) and through-coolant capability, it handles aggressive material removal while maintaining thermal stability. The cylindrical shank measures 0.9844 inches (25 mm) in diameter. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in production and job-shop settings.
The 5745469 is suited for milling steel, alloy, and similar workpiece materials in both roughing and semi-finishing shoulder milling applications. Its 4.7244-inch (120 mm) overall length and CoroMill 390 platform make it appropriate for vertical and horizontal machining centers equipped with standard cylindrical toolholding. Through-coolant delivery supports extended tool life and chip evacuation in deep shoulder passes. The tool body is constructed of steel and accepts multiple R390-11 T3 insert geometries, allowing operators to tune the cut for different material and surface-finish requirements.
Compatible with the following R390-11 T3 series inserts: R390-11 T3 04M-PM, R390-11 T3 08E-PL, R390-11 T3 08M-PM, R390-11 T3 16E-PM, R390-11 T3 16M-KM, and R390-11 T3 16M-PM. ISO designation R390-025A25-11H. Designed for use in machining centers with toolholding systems accepting a 25 mm cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool body. Verify insert seating and screw torque against the toolholder manufacturer guidelines before running the spindle. Confirm through-coolant line pressure and flow are compatible with the machining center before engaging the coolant circuit.
