The SANDVIK COROMANT 5743599 is a solid carbide ball end mill from the R216.54 series, designed for high-performance milling in demanding industrial applications. It features a 10 mm cutting diameter, a 40 mm length of cut, and four flutes with a 40-degree high helix angle. The tool is finished with a TiAlN PVD coating, which improves heat resistance and extends tool life during high-speed machining. The single-end, right-hand cutting geometry supports both roughing and finishing operations. Licensed machinists and CNC tool setters working in metalworking and precision manufacturing environments are the primary installers and operators.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is appropriate for vertical and horizontal machining centers in job shop, aerospace, and general metalworking environments where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. The standard-length configuration and straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance make it straightforward to load into standard toolholders or collet chucks without special adapters.
Designed as a series R216.54 OEM-specification ball end mill; compatible with standard straight-bore toolholders and collet chucks accepting a 14 mm shank diameter. Suitable for use across steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), superalloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per ISO material classification codes.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Before mounting, confirm the toolholder bore diameter and clamping torque specifications match the 14 mm h6 shank. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and any applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool length offsets and running initial cuts.
