The SANDVIK COROMANT 5741427 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert engineered for precision parting and groove turning operations. It carries the manufacturer catalog designation R123H2-0400-0503-CR 1125 and belongs to the CoroCut 1-2 series, a platform built for reliable, repeatable cutoff performance on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a 4 mm cutting width, a 5-degree right-hand lead angle, and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering thermal and wear resistance in demanding materials. A 0.30 mm corner radius and 7-degree relief angle complete the geometry. A licensed machinist or CNC tooling specialist installs this insert using the clamp-style holding method standard to the CoroCut 1-2 system.
This insert is suited for cutoff and grooving work on CNC turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. The CR chipbreaker designation is optimized for chip control in light to medium feed parting applications. Maximum depth of cut reaches 23.70 mm, making it appropriate for bar stock and small-diameter workpieces typical in precision machining. The right-hand insert hand and right-hand lead angle direction suit standard spindle-forward turning configurations. Grade 1125 with PVD TiAlN coating performs well across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel and stainless steel.
Designed for use with CoroCut 1-2 series toolholders that accept the H insert seat size and R123x2 insert style. Refer to the SANDVIK COROMANT CoroCut 1-2 toolholder selection guide to confirm holder and shim compatibility before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screw specified for the CoroCut 1-2 holder to seat the insert fully without cracking the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for wear or debris before seating a new insert, and verify cutting parameters against the SANDVIK COROMANT grade 1125 cutting data recommendations.
