The SANDVIK COROMANT 5741382 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the CoroCut 1-2 series standard, it carries a TiAlN plus AlCr2O3 PVD coating applied through a physical vapor deposition process, delivering strong resistance to heat and wear during interrupted cuts and continuous grooving cycles. The insert features a 2 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 6 mm, and a 0.20 mm corner radius. Grade GS1115 is engineered for steel and stainless steel applications where edge stability and surface finish consistency are critical. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments install this insert in compatible CoroCut 1-2 toolholders.
This insert is suited for grooving operations on turned components in both light and medium-duty production runs. The right-hand orientation and L1 insert seat size target standard CoroCut 1-2 toolholder configurations used in external grooving on shaft workpieces, rings, and flanges. Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Shut down the machine spindle and confirm the turret is fully indexed and locked before seating or replacing inserts. Verify insert seating and orientation visually before resuming operation, and confirm tool offset compensation is updated in the CNC controller after any insert change.
