The SANDVIK COROMANT 5740835 is a round solid carbide turning insert carrying the ISO designation RCMX160600 H13A, designed for external and internal turning operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. The insert runs in an uncoated, bright finish under the H13A grade, which is suited for high-temperature cutting conditions where a sharp, hard edge is required. With a 5/8-inch (0.6299 inch) inscribed circle and a 7-degree relief angle, this RCMX-style insert delivers consistent cutting geometry across all four usable cutting edges. It belongs to the T-Max P series and is held in place by a screw-clamp method. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and machining trade professionals specify this insert for precision turning on CNC lathes and manual turning centers.
This insert is intended for turning operations where the primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P) and the secondary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material code M). The round insert shape provides a strong cutting edge and is commonly applied in finishing and semi-finishing passes. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard right-hand and left-hand toolholders that accept the RCMX insert style. It fits toolholders designed for the T-Max P series platform. Each package contains one insert, with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed for use in toolholders that accept the RCMX insert style within the SANDVIK COROMANT T-Max P series platform. Compatible with toolholders specified for a 5/8-inch inscribed circle round insert with screw-clamp holding. Primary application is turning of steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M) workpieces.
Installation is performed by machinists or tool-crib technicians on CNC lathes or manual turning centers. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct torx or hex key to drive the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert body. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure full, flat contact with the seating surface.
